Missed last week’s picks, but we are back to preview some week 6 NFL matchups!
Buccaneers (4-1) vs. Eagles (2-3)
Brady and the Bucs take on Jalen Hurts and the Eagles in the city of brotherly love this week on Thursday Night Football. Hurts has shown that he still has a lot to prove if he wants to stay the starter long-term in Philly. The Eagles have a 6 game win streak when on Thursday Night Football. Tampa has some guys banged up, and their defensive back core has been pretty ugly this season so far. I think the Bucs will win this game but could be closer than expected.
Buccaneers 34, Eagles 24
Dolphins (1-4) vs. Jaguars (0-5)
The NFL takes London again this week as Trevor Lawerence is still searching for his first career NFL win in what has been an ugly start to the season for Jacksonville. Jacoby Brissett has been worse than expected, and this game could be different if Tua plays. It seems really dumb that two teams in Florida are flying overseas to play each other, but whatever. I think Trevor gets his first win this weekend against the Dolphins in a low-scoring game.
Jaguars 17, Dolphins 13
Chargers (4-1) vs. Ravens (4-1)
This is my game of the week as we get to see two bright young star quarterbacks battle it out. Lamar Jackson takes on Justin Herbert this weekend in Baltimore. You can argue that these are the two best QB’s in the league this year so far. The Ravens are so banged up, but they have excelled offensively, especially with the run game. I think this will be a very close game, and it will be a shootout between two really good teams.
Ravens 38, Chargers 35
Chiefs (2-3) vs. Washington (2-3)
The Chief’s defense is god-awful, and it isn’t really a surprise to anyone who has watched a game this year. They make everyone they play look like a brilliant offense. Buffalo didn’t even play to their highest potential Sunday Night and made them look like fools on primetime. Meanwhile, Washington has also struggled defensively this year. I think Patrick Mahomes will bounce back this week and move back to (.500).
Chiefs 27, Washington 20
Texans (1-4) vs. Colts (1-4)
The AFC South is so bad, and we have the second and third place 1-4 teams battle it out this week in Indy. Davis Mills came off an incredible performance against New England last week, throwing for 312 yards with 3 TD passes on the day. I think Mills will be somewhere in between where he was last week and in week 4, won’t be incredible but will not shine. Indy hasn’t been good but has looked better offensively lately. I think the Texans will pull this one off though.
Texans 26, Colts 20
Bengals (3-2) vs. Lions (0-5)
Dave Campbell is the biggest football guy I have ever seen. I love his passion, but his team is still pretty bad. The Burrow to Chase duo this season has been pretty remarkable, and I just think that this Cincy offense is going to be quite a threat against this Lions defense.
Bengals 24, Lions 10
Packers (4-1) vs. Bears (3-2)
Aaron Rodgers has just been so good against Chicago in his career. He has dominated them year after year. He is 21-5 in his career against them and averages 240 passing yards against them every game. Fields has been pretty good but somewhat inconsistent so far. I think this game could very well be a blowout.
Packers 31, Bears 17
Vikings (2-3) vs. Panthers (3-2)
These are two really even teams in my eyes this season. Darnold started out awesome but then slowed down in recent weeks. Carolina on the defensive side of the ball has been very good, but could really be tested this week against Kirk Cousin and the Vikings. I think the Vikings will outplay this Carolina team and take this game in a close one.
Vikings 27, Panthers 20
Rams (4-1) vs. Giants (1-4)
Daniel Jones looks like we will not suit up this weekend against LA, leaving the Giants to rely on Mike Glennon behind center against a good Rams defense. Glennon has the worst record by any starting QB in the NFL since the year 2000. Matthew Stafford and the Rams look good, and I just think the Rams are way too good to struggle against this Giants team.
Rams 33, Giants 13
Cowboys (4-1) vs. Patriots (2-3)
The Cowboys are playing like one of the best teams in the NFL so far this season. Dak and the boys will go into New England to face Mac Jones and Bill Belichick. Dak and the cowboys are red hot, as he looks like he is the favorite early on for comeback player of the year. The defense has looked good and the run game is really strong. Ultimately, I think the Cowboys are a really good team. If they can just slow down Mac and the Pats, they should not have trouble getting out of New England with a W this weekend.
Cowboys 28, Patriots 17
Raiders (3-2) vs. Broncos (3-2)
The Raiders looked really really bad last week against the Bears, and they are going to have to bounce back strong after losing their head coach this week. Derek Carr is really going to have to rally his team and be a leader in this game. Denver is still pushing and fighting for this division. Vegas has so many distractions this week with the Gruden situation and just the locker room in general. If Carr has played really well this season, and I think they can do well offensively. Denver played decent last weekend on the defensive side of the ball. There are just too many distractions for Vegas this week and I think they fall short of a win on the road.
Broncos 26, Raiders 20
Cardinals (5-0) vs. Browns (3-2)
Arizona is the only unbeaten team left, and they are looking to keep it that way this week against Cleveland. Kyler Murray has been locked in this year, playing like an MVP of the league. Baker hasn’t been great, but the Browns still have the best run offense in the NFL. This might be a hot take, but I think the Browns will upset Arizona this week.
Browns 24, Cardinals 21
Seahawks (2-3) vs. Steelers (2-3)
Both of these teams are trying to just keep their heads over water at this point. This game would be a lot different, but Russell Wilson is out, and Seattle is going to rely on Geno Smith this week. He didn’t do bad last week when he came in, but it’s easy to prepare yourself against a backup QB. The Seahawk’s defense is pitiful, and they will struggle against any team they play really. The Steeler’s defense has been pretty bad, and Big Ben is on the edge of breaking, but they are playing a beat-up Seattle team. I’m taking the Steelers in this game.
Steelers 24, Seahawks 14
Bills (4-1) vs. Titans (3-2)
The Bills look like they are the best team in the NFL right now. They are my super bowl favorite so far this year, and it isn’t really close. I think Derrick Henry will play good and the Titans will fight hard, but I think it will be hard for them to score against this Bills Defense. Josh Allen has played like a stud since after their week 1 slump, and he is playing at an MVP level. Buffalo plays hard, and I think that this team is just too good for the Titans to handle.
Bills 30, Titans 21
