We are on to week 3 of the NFL season, and man have we seen some good games played so far. It’s too early to tell how good or bad each team is, and teams still have a lot of work to do if they want to be a superbowl contender.
With another week of football ahead, lets look at week 3 matchups around the league.
Panthers (2-0) vs. Texans (1-1)
The Texans are without their starting quarterback Tyrod taylor, and are having to rely on rookie third-round pick Davis Mills on Thursday Night Football against the Carolina Panthers. Carolina has been playing pretty good football. Their defense has been legit, and Darnold and the offense have been making good plays. The Texans defense is going to need to contain Christian McCaffery and stop quarterback Sam Darnold from making big plays in the air. The Panthers so far this season, have maybe played the best defense in the whole league through week 2, and I see the Davis Mills and the Texans having a hard time against the Panthers.
Panthers 27, Texans 13
Colts (0-2) vs. Titans (1-1)
The Titans are coming off an overtime thriller against Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks last week. Derrick Henry had 35 carries, taking it for 185 yards and 3 TD’s. Indy quarterback Carson Wentz is questionable with injuries to both ankles and we will likely see Jacob Eason take snaps for the injured Wentz. If the Titans do everything right, and Tannehill and the offense can make big plays against this Indy defense, the Titans should take this divisonal game without OT this week.
Titans 35, Colts 21
Falcons (0-2) vs. Giants (0-2)
The Falcons have allowed 80 points so far this season trough 2 games. Yikes. The Giants are coming off the heart-breaking loss against Washingon after an offisde penalty which allowed Dustin Hopkins to have a second chance at a field goal, which he hit to seal the game. Daniel Jones hasn’t played horrible so far this season, and if he can make some plays agaisnt Atlanta, I can see this being a huge confidence builder for the Giants going forward.
Giants 31, Falcons 24
Chargers (1-1) vs. Chiefs (1-1)
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are coming off an early game of the year against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens on Sunday Night last week. The Chargers are coming off a hard-fought loss against Dak and the Cowboys in week 2. Both of these teams are trying to bounce back in week 3, but Patrick Mahomes and the KC offense will be too much for the Chiefs to handle.
Chiefs 34, Chargers 21
Bengals (1-1) vs. Steelers (1-1)
The Bengals may have the worst offensive line in the NFL, and they just can’t protect Joe Burrow well. T.J. Watt and the Steelers defense are going to give Joe a lot of pressure. If Big Ben and Najee Harris make big plays, and the Steelers defense stops Joe Burrow and Joe Mixon from driving down the field, the Steelers will pull through in this divisional matchup.
Steelers 21, Bengals 13
Bears (1-1) vs. Browns (1-1)
Justin Fields will make his first career start against the Browns this week, after Andy Dalton went down with an injury. Even if Fields turns into a star, this is a hard challenge against a good Cleveland team. The Bears are going to balance using Fields and forcing the run game with David Montgomery. The Bears have held the run very well this season, and if they can stop both Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt from making huge plays downfield with their legs, the Bears can pull this game off. I like Chicago taking a win against Baker and the Browns on the road this week.
Bears 27, Browns 20
Ravens (1-1) vs Lions (0-2)
Lamar Jackson and the Ravens are coming off an incredible offensive performance against the Chiefs last week, and they are looking to keep the ball rolling early in the season. Jared Goff and the Lions have yet to find the win collum this season, and that won’t change going into next week. Lamar and the offense will just be too much for this Lions defense and even if Goff and the offense can score points, the Ravens will just outscore them in this game.
Ravens 38, Lions 21
Saints (1-1) vs. Patriots (1-1)
This could be the best matchup of the week, as Jameis and Mac are both still trying to prove themselves as starting quarterbacks in this league. Jamies and the Saints are coming off a weak performance against the Panthers last week, and are looking to bounce back this week in New England. Jameis is going to have to really limit mistakes this week against the Patriots defense. This one will be a harf-fought game against two teams that still have a lot of unanswered questions about them.
Patriots 24, Saints 20
Cardinals (2-0) vs. Jaguars (0-2)
Kyler Murray has been playing at an MVP level so far this season, and he is going to embarass the Jaguars this weekend. He is just a playmaker, and he has proved that so far in his young career that he can stretch the field and make plays through the air and on the ground. I would like to see Trevor play a better game than he has been, but I dont think the Jaguars will have much of a chance in this game.
Cardinals 38, Jaguars 13
Washington (1-1) vs. Bills (1-1)
Josh Allen and the Bills are coming off a divisonal game shutout against Miami last week, where the bounced back in a big way from their week1 loss against Pittsburgh. Washington and their defense hasn’t played the way we thought they would. Josh Allen has been off to a slow start, but he will lead the Bills offesne to a win over Washington this week.
Bills 28, Washington 17
Jets (0-2) vs. Broncos (2-0)
The Jets are coming out of last week in a game where Zach Wilson threw 4 interceptions agaisnt New England. The Jets defense hasn’t been horrible, but their offense hasn’t been one bit productive so far. Teddy Bridgewater has played great so far in Denver. The Broncos will take this game, but don’t be surprised if Zach Wilson and the Jets give the Broncos a hard time.
Broncos 20, Jets 14
Dolphins (1-1) vs. Raiders (2-0)
With Tua out with an injury, Jacoby Brissett will start at quarterback against the Raiders in week 3. Derek Carr has been playing incredible at the start of the season. He threw for 373 yards with two TD’s agaisnt the Steelers last week. Their defense has been solid too. They have forced three turnovers through two games on the year. The Dolphins aren’t a bad team, but they are going to strugle in this game against a good Raiders team.
Raiders 31, Dolphins 20
Seahawks (1-1) vs. Vikings (0-2)
Russell Wilson is 7-0 against the Vikings, and he is looking to stay undefeated against them in week 3, after a tough loss to Derrick Henry and the Titans in week 2. The Vikings barely fell short last week against a really good Cardinals team, and they are looking to play hard again this week against Seattle. The Vikings weakness is their defense, and it’s going to be tested against D.K. Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Russell Wilson in this matchup. I think the Vikings offense will fight hard and put up points, but their defense will have a hard time against the Seahawks offense. This could be a hig scoring game though.
Seahawks 45, Vikings 37
Buccaneers (2-0) vs. Rams (2-0)
This game is going to be a shootout between two elite quarterbacks in the league, as Tom Brady takes on Matthew Stafford in Los Angeles. This game could be one of the most thrilling games of the year, and could be a huge playoff picture early in the season. Tom Brady and the Bucs have been playing good, putting up a whole lot of points in two games. The Rams have made good plays on both sides of the ball. This one could go down to the last wire, and both teams are going to need to show up to play. Tom and the Bucs will prevail and remain undefeated going into week 4.
Buccaneers 27, Rams 24
Packers (1-1) vs. 49ers (2-0)
San Francisco is off to a hot start this year, and are looking to keep the streak alive against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. After the Packers torched the Lions on Monday Night Football, they are looking to perfrom at the level again on the west coast against Jimmy G and the 49ers. If Jimmy G and his offense can make some noise, and they stop Rodgers and Aaron Jones from making big plays down the field, I think the Niners will take this one and add another W to the win collumn on Sunday Night Football.
49ers 27, Packers 20
Eagles (1-1) vs. Cowboys (1-1)
The Cowboys have played really good football two weeks into the year. Even with the loss, they played great against Tom Brady and the Bucs. Last week they went to LA and defeated Justin Herbert and the Chargers. Dak has played goof football, and the offense has really played great. they have a great ground duo with Zeke Elliot and Tony pollard sharing the ball. Ceedee Lamb has made himself a solid weapon for Dak, along with Amari Cooper. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles have played great too. They have really generated good points this season so far. If Micah Parsons and the Cowboys defense can play strong against Philly, the Cowboys will play great in this game and they will defeat their divisional rival at home in week 3.
Cowboys 35, Eagles 27
