Well, Ian Happ and Willson Contreras will be Cubs, but for how much longer?
Ian Happ is projected to earn $6.5M, while Willson will earn $8.7M on his last year on his deal. When I look at the two, I would kick Happ to the curb and do everything I could to keep Willson around. It really annoys me that the Cubs haven’t extended Willson’s contract. He has stepped up and has accepted his role as the new leader of this team, and the front office has completely looked past that. I like Ian Happ, and he is a good fit for the Cubs, but I would do everything I could to make sure that Willson will be playing baseball at Wrigley for the foreseeable future.
The Cubs have non-tendered pitcher Jason Adam and OF Michael Hermosillo.
The Cubs 40-man roster stands at only 35 men.
