Yesterday was a rough day for the Blackhawks organization with the off the ice issues going on right now. Stan Bowman and Al MacIsaac are out of the front office and the new interim GM is Kyle Davidson.
The Blackhawks are still searching for that first win of the year, and the team hasn’t had a lead in a game yet this season. Yikes.
Jonathan Toews and Henrik Borgstrom join Patrick Kane and the others in the COVID protocol group.
Toronto has started off a lot worse than they were expected. But it’s the Leafs, you really never know what to expect from them. The two stars Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner haven’t hit the sparkplug yet, and these are two guys who should be getting around at least 70 points a year. Auston Matthews is one of the best players in the league, and Marner is a stud when he gets on a rhythm.
The Hawks are going to need Dach and DeBrincat to really lead the offense with Kane and Toews gone. Kevin Lankinen might have some trouble tonight against the Maple Leaf’s offense, but if the defense plays well and stops big scoring chances, I think the Hawks can match up decent with Toronto tonight.
If the Blackhawks can put the off the ice stuff aside and focus on getting the job done, they could try to get into the win column against a talented Toronto team.
